Though one classmate is forced into prostitution and another is raped for playing the piano too well, though yet another is forced by bullies to root naked in a nearby paddy in emulation of the family pig, there is no revolt, just more navel gazing. The young hero of this picture, filled with New Age conceits, fits right in with the fashionable pale pastels of the photography and the "healing" music of the sound track. One of these is to retreat from harried school life into the calm of the Internet chat room and its attendant enthusiasms for such idol singers as Lily Chou-Chou.
